The Common Law Society and the Center for American Law Studies present
LAW IN ACTION - a series of workshops followed by a Moot Court.
The next workshop:
"DEMANDING HEROISM - THE ERDEMOVIC CASE"
will be held on
the 12th November 2008,
Wednesday, 6.30 p.m,
Brudzińskiego Lecture Hall (Kazimierzowski Palace)
Our guest will be dr Michał Królikowski, who will guide us through the meanders of the international criminal law. We will analyse the case of Erdemovic – an ethnic croatian who fought during the Bosnian war for the Army of Republika Srpska and was arrested and charged with crimes against humanity by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia. Can the defence of duress absolve one from guilt for crimes against humanity? Can law demand heroism? These questions remain to be answered.
