As a software engineer you will be responsible for the design and development of a product component or specific area of functionality. They enhance the quality and excellence of the Company's Products, provide advice to Product Development customers on how best to exploit the capabilities of the product, and provide input to the formulation of new requirements. Their work typically focuses on the development lifecycle of components of the product. Successful candidates will have proven experience of software design and development and will have an excellent knowledge of software development best practices.

To follow the Company's application development process thus ensuring a quality deliverable
Performing tasks assigned by the team leader or other senior personnel to a high standard within agreed time scales.
Contributes to the team project schedule.
Helps others on their team in order to achieve team objectives, by proactively supporting teamwork within own team and throughout the Product Development group.
Responds to internal customer issues within appropriate timelines.
Strengthens technical skills and awareness.

Skills and Attributes
Minimum of three years experience post graduate experience of commercial software design and development.
Experience developing/designing large software systems
Expertise in Java, JDBC, SQL is essential.
A knowledge of XML and HTML is beneficial
Previous experience in developing web based client-server enterprise applications is highly desirable.
Working knowledge of J2EE specifications (EJB, JAAS, JMS, JNDI, etc) highly desirable.
Familiarity with Web Services is advantageous
Exposure to Eclipse, UML and IBM Rational toolset would be an added advantage.
A working knowledge of application servers (WebSphere or WebLogic) is desirable.
Knowledge of databases (either Oracle or DB2) is beneficial
